Be Careful of Scams

I'm always hesitant to pay using e-payments especially those that involve QR code as I am concerned of safety and reliability. There are always report of pay app system down like the recent DBS paylah and scams.  With technology, scams are so rampant and banks need to take necessary measures to tackle it. They should have system in place to prevent scam especially when they are actively promoting their bank app payment system.

Recently, Straits Times reported of a woman who lost $20k when she scanned QR code with malware at a bubble tea shop. In many shops, customers are told to scan QR code for payment but there are some scammers who paste over the shop QR code. It is important to check and verify. But sometimes, people are too distracted to take note of. The onus is on the banks to track and check the transactions and stop payment to dubious bank accounts.

There is such a thing known as Karma or 因果 cause and effect. You do good, you will get good results and vice versa.
