Yummy Vegan Cakes at Greendot Plaza Singapura

This Thursday, I treated my elder cousin a vegan taro cake for her belated birthday at Green dot, a vegetarian eatery at Plaza Singapura.  We love the healthy and yummy vegan taro cake. I love that it is rich with creamy yam and it is not too sweet. I also ordered taro cake and Belgian chocolate cheesecake for takeaway.

I'm really happy to find delicious vegan yam cake. My parents also love the taro yam cake.

I hope Greendot will open a branch at Tampines. The nearest outlet is at Bedok Mall now. Looking forward to Greendot at Tampines.
I highly recommend this yummy taro yam cake which is not too sweet.
I like the siew mai too.

I love this design idea with bookshelf besides the dining white marble table. I think I have this design in my home too but I have a sliding glass panel for the bookshelf.

Local-licious Vegetarian at Elemen Restaurant

Next month, 9 August, Singapore will be celebrating  55 years of independence. Elemen, a vegetarian restaurant has just launched Singapore local dishes- Local-licious set meal for a limited time till 31 August this year.

Yesterday after work, I went to Elemen for late lunch and ordered Local-licious 8-course set meal at Millenia Walk. I love most of the dishes especially the chicken rice sushi with fried crispy beancurd skin and golden fritter with porcini mushroom and spicy special sauce. Kaya creme brûlée is great too but it's in small portion. I hope the golden fritter and kaya creme brûlée can be added to the main menu. Really love the fried fritter.

To me its not so filling as the three sushi are in small portion like three tablespoons. So I ordered another main dish, the wild mushroom with white truffle pizza and I had 3 slices of pizza.

To find out more, visit Elemen website here.
Elemen Singapore Appetiser- From left is yam cube, lion mane in curry sauce and lastly potato.
Local dish rojak salad with crispy you siao with fruits and vegetables in peanut sauce.
Cream of mushroom Kut Teh. I like this fusion mushroom and herbal peppery flavours. Surprisingly the pepper is not overwhelming. I actually don't like pepper but this combination is good maybe because of mushroom cream flavour too.
From left to right, there is Malay nasi lemak, Indian nasi briyani and Chinese Chicken rice inspired sushi. My favourite is the Chinese chicken rice sushi. I find the portion quite small. Its like three tablespoon of rice.
I love this chicken rice sushi with the crispy beancurd skin. It will be best if they are served hot.
I had the crispy thin wild mushroom and white truffle cheesy pizza too!
Golden fritter with porcini was served piping hot. I love the tangy spicy special sauce.

Sng Muay sorbet is traditional sour plum.
Kaya creme brûlée is really good.
Fresh sugarcane juice with lemon and coconut jelly chunk with sea salt. You can find sugarcane in many hawker centre drink stall.

Seoul Roll- Avocado roll Kimbap

My young cousin treated me some Kimbap, which is a popular Korean dish at Seoulroll at Raffles City shopping mall. She brought the avocado roll as she is aware that I'm now on vegetarian diet (going vegan).

Wow, I was amazed by this simple dish. It is refreshing light and tasty with generous portion of avocado and other vegetables like carrot, lettuce, cucumber, radish pickle, burdock root and egg. I love it so much that now whenever I'm at Raffles City shopping mall, I'll order the avocado roll with no egg.  When I ordered today, I asked them not to add egg and they obliged. They just added more vegetables.

The avocado roll costs $5.50 but I don't mind paying because of the yummy and crunchy vegetables and fresh avocado. But then I think its good that I start to learn how to cook this dish. I was surprised to see price rose from $4.50 to $6.00 for some kimbap in few years time.

Yummy Salad Bowl at Soup Spoon Union

I had my dinner at Soup Spoon Union at Raffles City shopping mall. I selected the salad bowl set with roasted pumpkin soup and lemon tea drink. The salad portion size is big and comes with about four or five falafel balls. I'm not really a fan of falafel balls but there are only two vegetarian choices for protein. The other option is teriyaki tofu but I read that they are not delicious. Maybe next time, I will try teriyaki tofu.

I like romain lettuce, corn, avocado, pineapple, dried cranberries. However the chilled soba is not recommended. It was just a clump of soba and tasted soggy soft. Last week I chose pesto penne for carbohydrate and I find it much better than the chilled soba though they were rather oily. I felt very full after eating the salad bowl and roasted pumpkin soup. I enjoyed the salad bowl with basil pesto penne with mint aioli.

I find the order list very helpful as you know what nutrients you are eating. You can choose three fibre, one protein, one carbo, one base and one dressing.
