Local-licious Vegetarian at Elemen Restaurant

Next month, 9 August, Singapore will be celebrating  55 years of independence. Elemen, a vegetarian restaurant has just launched Singapore local dishes- Local-licious set meal for a limited time till 31 August this year.

Yesterday after work, I went to Elemen for late lunch and ordered Local-licious 8-course set meal at Millenia Walk. I love most of the dishes especially the chicken rice sushi with fried crispy beancurd skin and golden fritter with porcini mushroom and spicy special sauce. Kaya creme brûlée is great too but it's in small portion. I hope the golden fritter and kaya creme brûlée can be added to the main menu. Really love the fried fritter.

To me its not so filling as the three sushi are in small portion like three tablespoons. So I ordered another main dish, the wild mushroom with white truffle pizza and I had 3 slices of pizza.

To find out more, visit Elemen website here.
Elemen Singapore Appetiser- From left is yam cube, lion mane in curry sauce and lastly potato.
Local dish rojak salad with crispy you siao with fruits and vegetables in peanut sauce.
Cream of mushroom Kut Teh. I like this fusion mushroom and herbal peppery flavours. Surprisingly the pepper is not overwhelming. I actually don't like pepper but this combination is good maybe because of mushroom cream flavour too.
From left to right, there is Malay nasi lemak, Indian nasi briyani and Chinese Chicken rice inspired sushi. My favourite is the Chinese chicken rice sushi. I find the portion quite small. Its like three tablespoon of rice.
I love this chicken rice sushi with the crispy beancurd skin. It will be best if they are served hot.
I had the crispy thin wild mushroom and white truffle cheesy pizza too!
Golden fritter with porcini was served piping hot. I love the tangy spicy special sauce.

Sng Muay sorbet is traditional sour plum.
Kaya creme brûlée is really good.
Fresh sugarcane juice with lemon and coconut jelly chunk with sea salt. You can find sugarcane in many hawker centre drink stall.

Da Paolo Gastronomia at Raffles City

I read about Da Paolo Gastronomia in local newspapers. It's a popular Italian restaurant famous for their pasta in Singapore. Thus I was excited when I saw Da Paolo Gastronomia is coming to Raffles City, my favourite shopping mall!

So yesterday I went to Da Paolo to try their pasta as I love pasta and I read of their delicious Banana Toffee tart though I don't really like to eat banana. Wow, though I don't like banana, I really like their Banana Toffee tart with rich creamy toffee on really hard tart. Really need to exert a lot of effort to break the tart.

I think the pasta is quite a disappointment. I chose spaghetti and carbonara sauce expecting to see an egg on top( normally there is a egg on top of pasta)  but I was told it was mixed already. I expect the pasta to be al dente but it was not. I saw another person enjoying al dente looking pasta with pesto sauce. Maybe next time I try pesto sauce with hand-made pasta.

I saw a pretty lady who looks familiar. Then I remembered, she was featured on the Straits Times before with her father and brother. She was serving guests and instructing her staff. Quite a nice lady.

Eating at Da Paolo Gastronomomia is not cheap. I spent a total of $36.05 for a cup of mint mocha ($6.50), banana toffee tart ($8.00) and Cabonara ($16.80) and additional sauteed mixed mushroom ($4.75) ,7% GST and 10% service charge.

Nearest MRT: City Hall MRT

You can choose salad, cold pasta and dessert here.

My Favourite Burger at Soup Union: Ultimate Chicken Caesar Burger

I think I found the perfect burger; the Ultimate Chicken Caesar burger at Soup Union. The toasted wholewheat brioche bun is filled with grilled chicken breast, lean bacon, cheese, fried battered onion, runny sunny side egg and my favourite caesar dressing and healthy romaine lettuce, mushroom and tomatoe. The set which costs $14.90 comes with a drink and a side like house salad, fries or mushroom soup.

Breakfast at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

There are many Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf stores in Singapore and they serve good coffee and wide variety of breakfast all day. My favourite branch is at Kallang Leisure Park highly recommended by my friend who is also my colleague. Indeed, they are generous with the smoked salmon for caesar salad. I also love their egg and tandoori chicken wrap as the wrap is crispy hot with delicious fillings.

I also went to the Suntec city branch but the salmon is really pittance small and the egg is not runny in Salmon brioche egg ben. Maybe next time, I'll try the Tampines branch.

I prefer the runny egg.
At Suntec City branch, the salmon is pittance compared to Kallang Leisure Park.
Brek 'O Day at Kallang Leisure Park. Not recommended as the scramble egg was bland.
At Kallang Leisure park branch, they are generous with smoked salmon to the caesar salad thus this is my favourite place to eat salmon caesar salad.
Tandoori chicken wrap is very delicious and they served the wrap hot.

Seasonal Menu Crustacean Combo at Fish & Co

From March to June this year, Fish & Co is offering seasonal catch 3-in-1 combos namely the Crustacean combo and Omega-3 Power -up combo(mussels, cod and salmon). I had the crustacean combo which comprises a slipper lobster, three prawns and scallops. I like this dish very much as they already scooped out the slipper lobster meat and all you need to do is just dump the empty shell to a empty plate. Under the slipper lobster is creamy smooth mashed potato which taste really good. I be back for more.

Creamy sauce flows from the centre of mashed potato when I scoop it.
Prawn salad is one of my favourite dishes at Fish & Co.

The Best Pumpkin Cheesecake in Singapore

Every time I go to  The Connoisseur Concerto (TCC), I must have their pumpkin cheesecake which I think is the best in Singapore. The cheesecake is not too sweet and you can feel the pumpkin rich fibre which is good for your health.

There are many TCC boutiques in Singapore mainly in the town area like Ion Orchard, Marina Bay Sands,Wisma Atria and others. Besides cheesecakes, they also serve pasta, main courses and a wide variety of coffee. It is quite pricey so I always use my membership card which save me 15%.

Breakfast at Swenson

Went to try their omelette breakfast set and though presentation looked nice, the omelette taste rather bland though it included chopped tomatoes and herbs.

 I love the ciabatta though

New Dishes from Bakerzin

Bakerzin is a western casual restaurant that is known for their delicious cakes. However, their new menu serves really good pasta dishes too. I am delighted with their aglio olio which allows you to add side dish like prawns, bratwurst, ham and bacon or mushrooms at additional cost from $3.00 to $7.00.

Besides warm chocolate cake with a molten chocolate lava, caesar salad is also another dish I like to order as it comes with half boiled egg and parmesan cheese. After blogging this, I feel like eating their aglio olio this weekend again.

To look at their revamped menu, you can click here
I like the Smoked Salmon Penne but the smoked salmon is too salty.
The caesar salad ($10.90) is a must order for me.
A plate of aglio olio costs $9.90 but I add prawns which cost an additional $7.00. I guess I be visiting Bakerzin more often for their al dente aglio olio.
Cookies and cream cheesecake is served with fresh berries and it taste quite good.
This is definitely my favorite dessert but the warm chocolate cake costs $11.50
You can also request for chocolate ice-cream
