6th Birthday Cake

Brought this pistachio cake somewhere near Lavender MRT last Saturday. Yes it looked gross when I opened the cake box but it tasted quite ok. Not impressive for me to buy again.

This Morning Venus and Moon

My kind friend told me the brightest planet is Venus. In this photo, you see the bright planet Venus near the crescent moon early this morning .

You can read more about Venus Brightest from EarthSky here.

Fifth Birthday Cake

My youngest brother brought me a birthday cake from DJ Bread today. It is a chocolate cake with fruit topping like strawberry, grapes and blueberries. It is quite yummy with thick layer of chocolate cream and moist cake. Thank you to my brother!

Vibrant Art at Jalan Klapa

Love this vibrant mural art at Jalan Klapa. I couldn't spend more time to explore more mural art as I was rushing for lunch at Tipo today. The lunch was only reserved for one hour as the pasta restaurant is really popular.

Kampong Glam

On the way to Raffles City Shopping mall, my cousins and I passed by Kampong Glam where there is a majestic golden dome mosque known as Sultan Mosque. It reminds me of the golden dome mosque I visited at Brunei in 2010 during a work trip with my colleagues.

Fourth Birthday Cake at Da Paolo Gastronomia

I had my fourth birthday cake, beuno cake yesterday at Da Paolo Gastronomia at Paragon mall. I love the crunchy base with hazelnut chocolate taste. I also had pistachio gelato after eating Al funghi, creamy mushroom pasta. It is really expensive. I think I will have it again in few months time.

Bueno cake box is now priced at $11.50!

I love pistachio gelato ($6.90). I think they serve the best pistachio gelato in Singapore!

Al Funghi, creamy mushroom pasta ($18.90).

Today Dinner: Mian Xian Rice Vermicelli at Home

I'm really happy to have a bowl of piping hot tasty mian xian (mee sua) or rice vermicelli cooked by my mum for my birthday today! Now I try to cut down on meat so my mum just cooked the mee sua with pumpkin, kale, egg and fragrant fried shallots! My mum is the best cook at home!

Pacified Mind from Zen Inspiration

I was reading the Zen Inspiration and find the following helpful.

Where does a pacified or non-pacified mind come from when mind itself is non-existent?

Non-existent of permanent self. Everything is dependent on causes and conditions. So why be unhappy and think of what is over.

From Zen Inspiration

Yeah I Finally Recovered!

I did ART test today and I am happy that finally the ART test kit shows negative result. Yeah, tomorrow I can go back to work.

My family members have all recovered. I think day 2 of being tested Covid-positive was the worst. I had fever, sneezed, felt very tired and sleepy. I also had sore throat and coughed. By day 4, I felt better but the ART test kit still showed positive result.

I drank lots of water, chrysanthemum tea with Luo Han Guo prepared by my mum and also coconut juice brought by my father. My father recovered first as he is first diagnosed with covid first. I'm happy that all my family members have recovered from covid now.

Now my Tracetogether app shows that I am vaccinated from last week additional dose needed. Yeah, just in time for me to go out to celebrate my birthday.

Tang Yuan Glutinous Rice Balls

I had tang yuan or glutinous rice balls today. I love the black sesame filling. By the way, you can find my name in this photo.

Today Is All Yin 寅 Day

The hours have passed. Yin 寅 (tiger) hour which is defined from 3am to 5am is over. Anyone with monkey Shen 申 or Snake Si 巳 needs to be mindful of this day. I think I spend this day meditating later. Better be safe than sorry.

I was reading local English newspapers aka The ST and was surprised when the writer commented that Chinese destiny reading does not take into consideration the time of birth. I was shocked by her ignorance. Sometimes they just published unsubstantiated articles.

In fact both Bazi 八字 or 8 characters heavenly and earth branches from year, month, day and hour and also Zi Wei Dou Shu 紫微斗数 needs the time of birth for accurate destiny reading. The yearly astrology book is just one money-spinning tool for those Chinese astrologers. Take it with a pinch of salt since it only talk about your year of birth. A good destiny reader can be really accurate in predicting the future. But like what Liao Fan said, we have the ability to change our destiny but through a lot of effort by doing good without thinking of rewards. We have the free will to change. But if we are not mindful, we'll just be going through the force of our karma 业力.

I once read that destiny reading is just like weather forecast. If you know it's going to rain, just bring an umbrella or just stay at home. I think it also depends on your karma if you are able to meet a good destiny reader who can be of real help to you. They are helping you with knowledge from heaven.
People born on this day from 3am to 5am must be really smart with Eating God aplenty in their birth chart but must be careful in every monkey year or decade luck pillar. They only have 2 elements namely wood and water. It is not a balance chart. This day happens once every 60 years.

If a baby is born at such moment with 4 Water Tigers - he will be extremely weak water person with 4 Academic star. This is “ Follow the Intelligence” or “Follow the children” (從兒格)which is super intelligent and favourable elements are wood, fire, earth, even water is ok. Only Resources Metal is unfavourable.

FuHeng is a General in Qing Dynasty and is very close to Emperor Qianlong. He is known to be very intelligent but he died Young at age 48 as he got sick after fighting a war in Burma.

《新喜剧之王》主题曲- 疾风

I like this theme song from Stephen Chow's directed movie. It is about not giving up on your dream. To work towards your dream and achieve it.

I like what Paulo Coelho wrote. Never abandon your dreams. Follow the signs.

Birthday Gift in 2021

I like the birthday gift, which is a set of Ah Guo stationery from my cousin last Saturday. I love the artist watercolour whimsical painting. Actually there is no need to buy gift. Just having a good meal will be good.

Inside the gift box include the book, The Search which I wanted to buy earlier and cute stationery.

Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre

Finally I went to the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) located in the financial district area at Straits Boulevard, near the Tanjong Pagar MRT yesterday. My cousin M asked me to join her to see the cute Ang Ku Kueh girl exhibition at SCCC. We reached the place at about 7.50 pm so we didn't get to see much of level 2 exhibition. Level 1 concourse shows videos of various dialect groups in Singapore like the Teochews, Hokkiens, Cantonese, Hakka and Hainanese.

We only explored the rooftop garden and the Ang Ku Kueh girl exhibition and watched some of the videos at the concourse. You can watch videos of different dialect groups as shared below and at SCCC youtube channel here.
