Cloud Forest, Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay, Cloud Forest is one place I love to visit to be immersed in the cooling dome with a artificial 35 metres tall mountain where you get to see rare plants in cloud forest from round the world. In the Cloud forest, Gardens by the Bay, you see plants like ferns, begonias, pitcher plants from tropical highlands to cloud forest of up to 2000 metres above sea levels.  Cloud forest varies between 500m to 4000m above sea levels and represents just 2.5% of the world's tropical forest. The nearest cloud forest to Singapore is Cameron Highlands, Malaysia.

It can be quite cold in the dome at about 20 degs celsius. If you are afraid of cold, bring a jacket along. This cloud forest dome is designed like a real cloud forest where temperature range from 8 to 20°C and you see fog.

We took a lift from level 1 to 6 and climbed the stairs to level 7. From level, we
descended via the Cloud walk, a harrowing walk if you are afraid of height.

Ticket price: Local Resident $12 to Cloud Forest only and $20 for Flower Dome and Cloud Forest ( Need to bring relevant documents for verification)

Take the lift to level 6 or 7 (for elderly and handicapped) and walk down via the Cloud Walk
At level 7 of the cloud forest
This is one of my favourite flowers at Cloud forest
Another lovely flower
Engender species : Only about 600 mountain gorillas left in the cloud forest of Congo, Uganda and Rwanda.
 Unique looking plant
 Orchids in the mountain too
If you are afraid of height or have high blood pressure, then it is not advisable to use the cloud walk.
 Leaves or flowers? So beautiful!
Valuable gems like precious metals, crystals and rocks are formed in high mountain. Many cloud forest mountains from around the world are at threats from mining.
Can I bring this Amethyst crystal home?

An overview of the Gardens by the Bay at Black Box which shows how self-sustainable the garden is by using discarded plants as fuel to provide energey to cool two conservatories namely the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest dome.
