Just went to I Light Marina Bay last month and I enjoyed many mesmerising light sculptures. Looking forward to next year I Light Marina Bay.

Hot Hot Hot in Singapore

It is scarily hot in Singapore. It is really unbearable. Luckily there are many air-conditioned shopping malls for me to escape.

Delicious Vegetarian Laksa at Green Dot

I finally found the most delicious vegetarian laksa at Green dot, a vegetarian eatery.
I don't like beansprouts (taugay) so I asked that they don't add it. They are really generous in serving huge piles of taugay.

Portion size is big and there are mock prawns and ball which are actually made from konnyaku. I will be back for the laksa again.

There are many Green Dot branches in Singapore. I had the laksa at Bugis branch. I hope they open Green Dot at Tampines soon.

 I topped up fruity salad

Singapore Registry of Marriage

My youngest brother and his wife married at the Registry of Marriage in January this year. In order to secure the flat they balloted, they must be married within three months of getting the flat.

Basically they had to register their marriage first and after securing the date to marry, they had to sign the marriage certificate in front of two witnesses and solemnizer.

Chinese New Year Decoration at Chinatown

This year Chinese New Year will begin on 16 February. Decoration is already set-up in Chinatown. This is the year of Dog but the lantern designs in Chinatown looks more like fox. Perhaps before they design, they should explore other friendly-looking dogs. I don't really like this year design. Hope the designers can improve on it.

Seoul Roll- Avocado roll Kimbap

My young cousin treated me some Kimbap, which is a popular Korean dish at Seoulroll at Raffles City shopping mall. She brought the avocado roll as she is aware that I'm now on vegetarian diet (going vegan).

Wow, I was amazed by this simple dish. It is refreshing light and tasty with generous portion of avocado and other vegetables like carrot, lettuce, cucumber, radish pickle, burdock root and egg. I love it so much that now whenever I'm at Raffles City shopping mall, I'll order the avocado roll with no egg.  When I ordered today, I asked them not to add egg and they obliged. They just added more vegetables.

The avocado roll costs $5.50 but I don't mind paying because of the yummy and crunchy vegetables and fresh avocado. But then I think its good that I start to learn how to cook this dish. I was surprised to see price rose from $4.50 to $6.00 for some kimbap in few years time.

Yummy Salad Bowl at Soup Spoon Union

I had my dinner at Soup Spoon Union at Raffles City shopping mall. I selected the salad bowl set with roasted pumpkin soup and lemon tea drink. The salad portion size is big and comes with about four or five falafel balls. I'm not really a fan of falafel balls but there are only two vegetarian choices for protein. The other option is teriyaki tofu but I read that they are not delicious. Maybe next time, I will try teriyaki tofu.

I like romain lettuce, corn, avocado, pineapple, dried cranberries. However the chilled soba is not recommended. It was just a clump of soba and tasted soggy soft. Last week I chose pesto penne for carbohydrate and I find it much better than the chilled soba though they were rather oily. I felt very full after eating the salad bowl and roasted pumpkin soup. I enjoyed the salad bowl with basil pesto penne with mint aioli.

I find the order list very helpful as you know what nutrients you are eating. You can choose three fibre, one protein, one carbo, one base and one dressing.

Very Cold Weather in Singapore

Today, temperature dropped to 21.2 degrees celsius. I like cold weather and it reminds me of the great time I had in Taiwan. How wonderful if Singapore is always so cool.

In a way, we are saving electricity as now we don't switch on fans when we sleep. I guess this month, electricity usage in Singapore will drop as there is no need to switch on fan or air-conditioner.

One thing I'm surprised about the weather is my mum complained that her hands are painful from cracks. Even though it very cold, humidity level in Singapore is normally high.

Superb Vegetarian (素Perb) Restaurant at Tampines

Located at Blk 835 Tampines street 83, Superb vegetarian offers a good selection of local dishes at affordable price. I like their noodle which is springy smooth. The laksa ($3.50) is also delicious. They also have Chwee kueh and Chee Cheong fun. I'm happy that there is finally a vegetarian eatery that offers delicious at affordable price.

How to get there?
At Tampines bus interchange, go to bus 291(red) to Tampines Street 83
Xin Zhou bee hoon ($4.00) is quite good but a little salty.
Shredded chicken noodle ($3.50)
