Hmm, in early March, I be in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is one of the places in the world with great Fengshui and Bazi Masters, perhaps far better than Joey Yap. I heard that those skillful masters only read for the super rich tycoons who believe in Fengshui. In Singapore, Suntec city is/was partially owned by Mr Li Kashing. Suntec city building looks like a palm grabbing money. Of course besides Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore, those powerful Fengshui and Bazi masters could also reside in China, the birthplace of Chinese metaphysics like Fengshui, Bazi and ZWDS. It's just that they keep low profile and perhaps are helping the powerful people like state leaders. Leaders whose destiny can impact his citizens.

Birthday Noodles
From last Sunday to next week, I be celebrating my birthday with my relatives and friends. Few days ago, my mum cooked a bowl of instant noodles with egg. Last year, she cooked mian xian. I loved that the egg is not overcooked. I love the egg york to be soft and runny. Think on actual day then I have mian xian or vermicelli. It is especially delicious with the fried shallot prepared by my mum.

Syonan gallery To be Renamed
Finally our Government took Singaporeans' feedback and decided to rename Syonan gallery to " Surviving the Japanese Occupation: Wars and it's Legacies".
It is heartening to know that our government listen to the people and made the necessary change. I hope those historians who decided to name the gallery be wiser and less insensitive. Some people who are fine with the name Syonan doesn't mean the majority accept it. We do not want Japan to get their way of naming Singapore Syonan-to during world war 2 to be named in this permanent gallery. Syonan-to means Light of the South. But it was a period of darkness and despair in Singapore during World war 2.
Finally I hope those Japanese politicians have the courage to face their past instead of twisting history. I was told by my colleague that in Japan, they could not search Japan role in world war 2 via internet in Japan. It's sad that their younger generation are not taught of the past and their politicians still pray at the shrine housing those cruel class A war criminals. They should learn from Germany leaders who truly repented and have the courage to face their past. Their younger generation are taught of their roles during world war 2 and taught not to repeat what their earlier generation had done.

Mei Heong Yuan Dessert at Chinatown
After dinner at G7 Liang Kee Restaurant, my relatives treated me Chinese Dessert in Chinatown Mei Heong Yuan. I enjoyed eating with my relatives as we can share a wide variety of dessert. We had hot dessert like egg pudding with ginger which to me taste like preserved egg. Mango and green tea snow ice are quite ok. I won't say they are impressive because I tasted better snow ice in Taiwan.
They also serve hot Chinese snacks like chee Cheong fun, glutinous rice and yam cake. I prefer their yam and carrot cake as compared to their snow ice.

Next Travel Destination? Vietnam?
I plan to travel in April. I was checking out the flight tickets and I found some very good deals from Scoots airline. Wow it only cost about $100plus for return flight to Vietnam. I'm not sure if I should go as I be traveling alone as most of my friends are working. Maybe I do some research first before I go. But one thing for sure is I want to explore Ha Long Bay. My ex-colleague said it's a beautiful place.

Thunder Storm & Heavy Rain
It's raining heavily with loud thunder storm. It has been raining for hours now. Luckily today I stay at home and read newspaper and books. From the news, I read that some Tampines areas are flooded. Some lifts are not in working order due to rain water.
Recently Singapore Management University basement area was also flooded with muddy brownish water and their lifts were also seeped with water. Wow it seems like this year is a really wet year for Singapore!

Xinyao 新谣 Night at River Hongbao Show 2017
Yesterday I went to River Hongbao show to catch Xinyao concert. There were many people and I had to wait for a seat. I managed to get front row central seat as others left the concert early as the next day is working day.
Xinyao means Singapore Chinese songs composed and sang by Singaporeans. Well-known Xinyao pioneers include Liang Wen Foo, Eric Moo. Hmm speaking of Liang Wen Foo, I hope my future spouse can also write beautiful Chinese poems like him. I love Xinyao songs as it reminds me of my childhood and its poetic lyrics and melody. The concert started at 8pm and lasted about 2 hours. Kudos to all the performers who gave their all! Looking forward to next year Xinyao concert!
From Wikipedia
Xinyao is a Chinese noun comprising two words: Xīn (新) which is an abbreviation for Singapore, and yáo (谣) for song. The extended form is Xīnjiāpō gēyáo (新加坡歌谣), which simply means "Singapore songs".

Reunion Dinner on Chinese New Year Eve 2017
How time flies. Today is finally Chinese New Year eve, the day we have reunion dinner together as a family. Prior to the dinner, I spent the day spring cleaning my bedroom, cleaning the windows, some bookshelves and changing the curtain and finally sweeping the floor because we don't sweep the floor on the first day of Chinese New Year.
Reunion dinner is very important to us as we don't normally have dinner together as a family as we reach home at different time. Sometimes my brothers work late. So on Chinese New Year eve, everyone of us will have a lavish sumptuous dinner together.
While I was cleaning my room, my elder brother who is a great cook helped my mother to prepare reunion dinner. Well, my elder brother used to work at a restaurant as a cook. Together they prepared 12 delicious dishes which include abalone and vegetables, tasty soup filled with quail eggs, pork and fish balls, pig skin, sea cucumber, vegetables, fried egg, fried chicken wings, fried prawns, steamed prawns, steamed fish, braised pork, fried squid balls and ngio hiang or five spiced pork roll, a typical Teochew dish. Wow, I felt really full after the dinner. I also treasure the time we eat together as a family with my parents and my 3 brothers at home.
After dinner, we'll watch China CCTV Chinese New year show and maybe later watch channel 8 new year countdown. Later in the night, I watch Stephen Chow comedy movies. Today my brothers and I will stay up late maybe till 3am to 5am to 守岁 shou sui with the hope our parents can enjoy longevity. My youngest brother will be going overseas today.
I had a great dinner tonight, I hope you too.
To all the Chinese and fellow Teochew nang around the world, I wish you a Prosperous and Happy Rooster New Year 2017. 恭喜发财 Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Chinese New Year at Chinatown
To experience Chinese New Year festive season, the best place to visit will be Chinatown. The streets are adorned with magnificent and beautiful Rooster and her plentiful chicks and eggs. During this period, there are bazaar where we can shop for Chinese New Year decoration and goodies. Of course, during this busy period, you can find snaking queue for bak kwa or barbecued pork especially at popular Lim Chee Guan shop. Frankly speaking, I don't understand what is so special with their bak kwa. I think it taste the same as Bee Cheng Xiang.
Chinese new year decoration are much cheaper. I found a very pretty pair of pink slippers at $6.00 and some Rooster decoration at $1 after negotiating with the vendors. I must say I'm very happy with my purchase.
I decided to shop at Chinatown Point shopping mall to wait for the street light up so I can capture the beautiful Rooster lanterns along the street and share with my readers. You can catch the stunning street light-up along Eu Tong Sen street, New Bridge road and North bridge road from now till 25 February.
What a magnificent and beautiful glorious Rooster!
I love this year design.
