This Used to be My Playground

I used to play this playground which is made of concrete and metal when I was young. Sadly, many of these playground which used to located in public housings have given way to the common plastic playground.

Great to Have More of These

This is an old note of S$10,000.00. I wanna have more of these new $10,000.00 notes. You can see our national flower, orchid on this big note.

View of Singapore from the Top

Ever wonder how Singapore looks like from the top? These are the view
One of the world busy sea ports.
Eastern part of Singapore
Best Airport in the world for many years. The famous Singapore Changi Airport and the iconic control tower.

Singapore Armed Forces

In school our teachers like to tell us that only we Singaporeans can defend ourselves. During World War 2, the British defense forces deserted Singapore and left the local residents to defend for themselves when the japanese soldiers defeated the British. Singapore residents especially the Chinese suffered greatly during the japanese occupation during the Sook Ching massacre. Thus in 1965, when Singapore gained independence, our first Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew first priority was to ensure that Singaporeans are able to defend themselves with a strong defense force. The strong Israel Defense Forces trained our first batches of soldiers.

Today all healthy young men from 18 years old are required to serve national service. Males who graduated from polytechnic serve when they are about 20 years old.  Indeed this is a good platform for Singaporean males from all walks of life and different races (Chinese, Malay, Indian and Others) to train and bond with the common goal of defending Singapore from unfriendly countries.

I still remember vividly, when we had no newater (treated water), Malaysia liked to threaten to cut off their water supply to Singapore. Fortunately with the newater, Singaporeans no longer has to tolerate Malaysia’s constant threat of cutting off water supply.

We have to thank our strong defense force that are keeping Singapore safe. Of course besides our strong defence forces, we also have many friends like United States of America, China, Australia, Israel and many others. For a small country like Singapore, it is very important to have many friends.

Although Singapore is small, we are determined people. We have achieved the miracle of transforming from a third world country to a First world country within a short period of time.  When there is will, there is a way!

Enjoy this catchy music video of the theme song of local movie, Ah Boys to Men.

Boston Seafood Shack in Singapore

Boston Seafood Shack is a relatively new restaurant at the integrated hub Star Vista, which is conveniently located besides the Buona Vista MRT station. From cityhall MRT station, it takes about 20 minutes to reach Buona Vista MRT.

I have never try any lobster roll in Singapore and decided to try it. At $15.00 per roll, I think it is quite expensive and it really doesn't make you feel full. After trying it, I personally feel eating once is sufficient as I don't really like the taste.
Their famous Boston Premium Lobstah Roll. It cost $15.00. It is loaded with lots of vegetables and lobster.
You can't help but be attracted by the fiery red design .
Interior design inspired.
Besides their signature Bostom Lobstah roll, they also have other seafood and pasta.

National Day Parade 2013 E-Ticketing

Good news! If you like to attend in Singapore's National Day Parade (NDP) on 9 August or NDP Preview on 3rd Aug, you can apply for ticket via this website at http://ndp.org.sg/ticketing/ from today till 20th May. All applications will go through the eBalloting system. Try your luck! In the past, I had to queue up for the tickets at the stadium. Well, at least I could get the tickets to the National Day Parade if I queue up early at 5 am. It was like a big picnic with many families queueing up very early with their mat sheet, portable radio and some food to nibble while queuing up for the NDP tickets. Now, for the past eight years, even though I applied for the tickets via online eBallot system, I wasn't allocated a single ticket! This year, I'm trying again because I like to have the NDP goodies which include cute clappers, Singapore flag, portable cute light and other souvenirs.

I love participating in National day parade which is now celebrated at the Marina Bay platform. You get to sing NDP and national anthem with fellow Singaporeans, watch mass dance performance and sing along to the melodious songs and get to watch stunning   fireworks display.  I really, really want to participate in this year national day parade! Wish me luck.

Cloud Forest at Gardens by the Bay

Singapore is a tropical country, but we are blessed to see plants and flowers from all around the world. At the Cloud forest at Gardens by the Bay, we get to experience cloud forest which occurs generally higher than 750m above sea levels. They can be found in places like Brazil, Sabah, Borneo, China. The cloud forest in Singapore minics the temperature. So it can be quite cold. If you are afraid of cold, remember to bring a light jacket with you.
When you enter the Cloud forest, you are greeted by the beautiful waterfall and the cool breeze.

Popular Singapore Hawker Food

Fried carrot cake. This is a popular hawker food that can also be found at food court. Really delicious if it is crispy hot on the outside and soft inside.
This is a new dish I saw during Singapore Food Festival. This is really good with crunchy vegetables.

Domani Italian Restaurant in Singapore

Conveniently located at Ngee Ann City shopping centre basement 2, near the linkway to Wisma Atria shopping centre, there is an Italian restaurant that also serves spanish tapas. Price is quite affordable. For  lunch set that I had recently, pasta fettuccine creamy sauce set as shown below, soup of the day and ice tea, it cost only $18.00.

I am impressed with the salad which has this sweet cranberry sauce with some greenery and strawberry bits. There is mashed egg at the top of the fried calamari, too salty bacon and generous garlic bread.

This tomatoe soup taste quite good.

Arts at Raffles Place MRT

Raffles Place is where you see all the tall and mighty local and international banks and many law firms are situated at Raffles Place, Singapore financial district. There are many people dressed professionally and it is usually busy during weekdays office hours. On Sunday and holiday period, it will be a really quiet place.

There are many arts display at the Raffles place. Today I will showcase some arts display at Raffles Place MRT that depict the history of Singapore.
