Merry Christmas 2019

To all my friends especially my Christian friends, I wish you Merry Christmas!
Even though my family and I are not Christian, we like to buy a Christmas log cake and eat and just rest at home in this public holiday in Singapore. When I was younger, we would go to Orchard Road to see the Christmas lighting decorations. Now, I rather stay at home and read books or newspapers and not jostle in the crowded Orchard road street.

Happy holiday to everyone!

My brother brought a Christmas log cake this year.

Singing at Manekineko

During my free time, I enjoy singing. Sometimes I sing with my friend or cousins. If I want to sing to my heart content, I will sing alone.

If I sing alone, I will go to Manekineko at Tampines 1 shopping mall. During off-peak hours, I only pay $10.00 for 2 hours singing session which also includes unlimited free drinks like coffee, green tea latte, soft drinks and snacks. If I sing with my friend or cousins, then we will sing at TeoHeng as they charge based on room size. If you want to sing alone, Manekineko is more worth it.
I love this cheery bright room!

Rainy Cool Season in Singapore

It has been raining for the past few days and temperature has now dropped to about 22 to 25 degrees Celsius in Singapore. I love cool weather as it also helps us to save electricity. I don't switch on the fan these past few nights.

My First Watercolour Paint

I'm always inspired to create my own arts after viewing arts exhibition. I decided to start watercolour paint after seeing painting by Mr Lim Cheng Hoe at National Gallery in Singapore. I recently brought a watercolour guide book and followed it. Below is completed watercolour paint using a combination of watercolour pencil and paint.

Painting Singapore at National Gallery Singapore

From now till 5 January next year, there is Painting Singapore by local artist Mr Lim Cheng Hoe. Singaporeans enjoy free admission to local arts exhibition except for special exhibition. I was inspired to start my first watercolour painting after seeing watercolour painting by Mr Lim Cheng Hoe.

Cheese Raclette at Tampines Century Square

I was delighted to find cheese raclette at Tampines Century Square basement 1. You can see the stall near the escalator. I opted for Raclette Classic with potato only at $5.80. However I'm not sure if this chesse is vegetarian or not since most cheese are made with animal rennet. I hope they replace all animal rennet with vegetarian rennet.

The potato is really tasty with spices and herbs with melted cheese. It is best to eat this dish once its served.

Earn Higher Interest Rate in Singapore

With 7% GST and 10% service charge if you dine in Singapore restaurants, it will be good to have a saving account that helps you to earn some extra pocket money. For me, I try to eat at restaurant once a week and the rest of the days at home to save money.

Initially I wanted my blog to help me earn some extra pocket money but sometimes I don't update my blog as often as I'm busy with work and being a frank person, others dislike my opinions especially if it differ from them.

Now I just blog because my cousins and friends like to read my updates. Anyway since I blog in 2013, I already got paid about $400 from blogging. After Adsense changed payment to Singapore dollars from US dollars, I don't earn as much as before. Anyway back to the topic of earning some pocket money from local saving bank accounts.

My favourite saving accounts are OCBC 360 and UOB Stash account for saving. My POSB saving account is assigned "spending" account. POSB/DBS is not the best saving account though they have DBS Multiplier which requires transactions above $2000 be it salary credit, credit card spend, home loan instalments, insurance or investments.

Recently I discovered another saving account that offers higher saving interest rate and that is Citi MaxiGain saving account. It offers the highest saving interest rate if you maintain or increase saving amount every month. However you need a minimum of $70,000.00 to open this account.

First published on 2 April 2019 and updated on 28 Nov 2019

I like OCBC 360 account as it rewards you for saving money too instead of just spending.

UOB Stash account
UOB Stash Account encourages you to save money. You only earn bonus interest if you maintain or increase saving amount.
