Esplanade Circle of Hope from 11 Oct 2013 to 5 Jan 2014

From 11 Oct 2013 to 5 Jan 2014, Circle of Hope by Indonesian Octo Comelius will be on display in Singapore Esplanade concourse.

"This is a story about deforestation. There are birds everywhere and they try to tell a story about what’s happening to the forest. They meet the children, who ask them why they are trying to build a new home all the time, and why they always seem to be in a frantic state. The birds tell their stories..." Octo Cornelius

BookFest@ Singapore

If you are in Singapore, don't miss the largest Book and Stationery event of the year at the Suntec city which is organized by Popular bookstore. Bookfest@Singapore starts on 13 Dec 12pm and end on 22nd Dec 10 pm. Being a book and stationery lover, this is the favourite event of the year for me.

I'm delighted with the list of invited local and overseas authors and celebrities.
I'll be attending the famous Taiwanese author and director 九把刀 or 9 swords talk on 14 Dec which start at 7pm and maybe savvy investor Jim Rogers who co-founded the Quantum Fund and retired at 37 years as I also aspire to retire early like him.

Singapore MacDonald's Kampung Burger

This is MacDonald's Kampung Burger. The pineapple doesn't look fresh and I don't like the sauce. Just tasting it once will do.

New MacDonald burger in Singapore that aims to share the kampung spirit. Kampung means village which don't really exist except for one or two left in Singapore.

Christmas in Singapore

About a month before Christmas day, orchard road will be decorated with christmas lighting and shopping malls will be dressed to the nine. Although there is no snow, it is normally quite cooling in December and it is the school holiday for the students. Though I'm not a christian, I anticipate the christmas decoration at orchard road.

Essential Eames Exhibition at ArtScience Museum

I was glad to visit the Charles and Ray Eames exhibition at ArtScience Museum recently on a weekday. The place is quiet with not many visitors. Essential Eames exhibition will end on 5 January next year.

In the exhibition, you get to sit on their famous chair, play with the educational toy House of Cards to build different structures, touch the lota , see Ray paintings

" Explore the life and work of Charles and Ray Eames, the most famous couple in design. Most known for their timeless furniture creations, their influence and innovation extended far beyond that into architecture, exhibition design, toy making and film. "

Delicious Kaya Toast at Ya Kun

If you want to try one of the traditional Chinese breakfast, do try the Ya Kun Kaya Toast. I love their signature kaya toast which is spread with kaya ( or egg and coconut jam) that is made from 'coconut milk, sugar, eggs and pandan). I also love their soft boiled eggs and fragrant coffee with milk. You can buy the kaya toast value set which cost about $4.80 which includes two slices of kaya toast, 2 soft boiled eggs and a cup of coffee.
When I was young, I like to pour the coffee on the cup plate and drank off the plate. Now, I'm more conscious and just drink off the cup.

Normally people add pepper powder and soys sauce. For me, I just add soya sauce as I don't like pepper. I'm delighted they are innovative and added new items to their traditional kaya toast like toast stick and ice-blended coffee.

There are many branches in Singapore like at Singapore Changi airport, Raffles City shopping centre and their flagship store at Far East Square. I had my afternoon tea at the Raffles City shopping mall.

At Changi airport terminal 3, it is opened for 24 hours.

Durian, King of Fruits

Durian, commonly known in Southeast Asia as the King of Fruits, is popular in Asia for its creamy rich and sweet fruit. The fruit is protected by its green thorn husk.
In Singapore, you can find many durian desserts be it durian cake, crepe and ice-cream.
Common feedback by foreigners is its strong smell. But once you taste it, you feel like you are in heaven.
I brought this durian, which the seller sold it in package though its not so environment friendly.
The durians!
You need strength to open the durian. (Last two photos from google)
