Singapore Ranked World's Most Expensive City
For the 4th time, Singapore is again ranked the World's Most Expensive City. You can read more about it from the Straits Times article here.
Indeed, things here are very expensive. Be it cars, dining at restaurants and clothes. Now water is going to be expensive soon. Thus whenever I travel, I make use of the opportunity to shop for shoes and clothes. In fact, I rarely shop in Singapore because I realised we Singaporeans are being taken for a ride especially when I saw the price of a 500g pack of chia seeds in Melbourne. In Singapore, the pack of chia seeds is almost thrice the price at S$41.45! In Melbourne, it only costs AUD$15 to AUD$16!
Dining in restaurant is also expensive. Besides 7% GST, there is also additional 10% service charge. Whereas in Hong Kong, I don't have to pay additional 17%. Oh well, you can say some Hong Kong eateries are not service oriented. But there are some Hong Kong eateries that provide good service too and I don't have to pay additional 10% service charge. Forget about buying a car here, unless you have lots of cash. Singapore is the only country where you have to buy a Certificate of Entitlement (paper) at around S$45000.00 before you can buy a new car. If you say our flats are cheap, not really if you look at the reducing room size. New flats are so small.
At work, my colleagues lamented thats things like Lego are so expensive that they rather buy online. Things are so much cheaper overseas. No wonder, there is report that our retailers are seeing a drop in business. Many Singaporeans are rather well-travelled now and rather buy from overseas after comparing the prices or buy online. A packet of chia seed in Melbourne costs only AUD$15 but in Singapore, it costs S$41.45. Seriously, I think we customers are being taken for a ride in Singapore.

Good Facilities at Hong Kong Dorsett Mongkok Hotel
As a female solo traveller, safety, cleanliness and convenience are three important factors whenever I select a hotel. For me, I don't mind paying more for comfort and good location. At Dorsett Mongkok hotel located in the heart of Mongkok neighbourhood, it meets the above conditions. For the 1 week stay, I paid about S$880.00 after enjoying early 30% discount. Click my travel blog here to read more.

HDB Homes of Singapore Exhibition
At National Design Centre, I came across this exhibition on Singapore HDB homes. Basically it feature homes in public housing HDB(Housing Development Board) where more than 80% Singaporeans reside.
New public housing is much smaller compared to the past. The current 5-room HDB flat that I've been staying for the past 30 years is much bigger. Be it public housing or private housing like condominiums, sizes of the room are getting smaller. For example my bedroom size is twice or even thrice the size of current new flats and condominiums due to limited land area in Singapore. When I told some acquaintances, they are very surprised that Singapore is only 700 km square after some land reclamation.
Laksa at Tea Loft
Went for dinner at Suntec city for laksa which is one of my favourite dishes in Singapore. I brought the set which includes coffee at $7.80. It doesn't taste good so I don't recommend it. In residential area, a bowl of laksa costs $3.50 to $4.00.

My New MacBook Air!
I finally purchased MacBook Air at IT Show yesterday! It comes with extended warranty (up to 2 years) and also a free MacOS course at Raffles City Nubox. Though I had been using IMac since 2011, I still need to acquire new knowledge and also I can't transfer my Samsung phone photos and external disk files to my MacBook Air. I also purchased Microsoft office but there is no CD. There is only code to download the software.
At the present moment, I'm really happy with my purchase. Just that I can't transfer my files from external devices to my MacBook Air.
Free stuff like 4-port USB hub, wireless mouse and keyboard protector.

IT Show 2017 Starts Today!
I've been anticipating the coming IT Show! After faithfully serving me for the past five years plus, my IMac broke down early this year. So tomorrow I'm going to check out Macbook offer at Suntec city. I prefer Apple products as there is no computer virus attack compared to Windows computer. I know lately my blog posts are not so good as I had been updating my blog using my Samsung note5 and Ipad2. It's time to get a laptop. It can be troublesome to update my blog using my phone as I can only upload one photo at a time compare to a desktop that allow me to upload many photos simultaneously. Hope I get a great laptop today!

First Meal in Singapore
My first meal in Singapore is home-cooked fried Hokkian mee (noodles) prepared by my mum. This delicious fried noodle is filled with sliced fish cake, prawns and egg. I still love the taste of home.
