Vantage View of Singapore From Marina Bay Sands

If you want to have a great vantage view of Singapore, you can dine at the top floor level 57 at Marina Bay Sands instead of paying for the Skypark observation. We have really beautiful architectures in this city. Do go and explore if you haven't.

Thank You

Thank you for bringing us so much joy for the past 12 years 阿吉, our youngest family member. May you be reborn in better realm in either the human or heaven realm.

It is very painful to lose loved one. We are not going to get any more pet.

For the first time today, our chinchilla, our lovely pet, 阿吉 who has been with us for 12 years (in human age, he is already 96 years old based on this calculator) since 2010 is not eating despite enticing him with his favourite dried cranberries. He just lay down quietly not eating. He loves sand bath and will bathe every morning as he loves cleanliness but today he didn't want to bathe.

He is part of our family already bringing so much joy to us. It is affinity 缘分 that leads him to our family.

At least there is not much suffering. He left us today after resting this noon.

Tiger Sculpture at Gardens by the Bay

Saw this gigantic 7m-tall colourful endangered Sumatran Tiger sculpture located at the SG50 lattice Gardens by the Bay last Thursday. This art sculpture is made up of recycled material like portable loos and road dividers. It is created by Portuguese artist Artur Bordalo who aims to raise awareness on global wastage of material and the need to reduce, reuse and recycle. This art sculpture will be on display for the next three years.

Bright Cloudy Day

The past few days had been raining heavily.  Today is a bright cloudy day. It was an eventful day for me. I broke my spectacles while cleaning my lens and I had to pay about $110 for a new spectacles frame. I paid about $450 for the transition lens spectacles last year and thought it would last me 10 years like my previous spectacles did.

Travelling with the Master at Singapore National Gallery

I enjoyed the recent visit to Singapore National Gallery where I spent the day just admiring one of my favourite artists, Master Wu Guan Zhong. This exhibition is co-created with the docent community and were selected from the National collection generously donated by Wu Guan Zhong. Some of my favourite art works include the Pandas and the Green Sorghum.  Lovely arts that made my soul sings.

For more information, click the National Gallery website here.

Wu Guanzhong: Travelling with the Master is the sixth edition of the Wu Guanzhong Exhibition Series, which was launched in 2015 to investigate the artist’s life and art practice.

Unlike past exhibitions in the series, which were developed by museum curators, this exhibition adopts a new approach. The Gallery invited its docent community to co-create this exhibition about the artist with museum professionals.

Featuring a selection of artworks from the National Collection and a series of rare archival materials, Travelling with the Master invites audiences to journey with Wu Guanzhong and his works using several lenses: the conceptual, the physical, the imaginative and the emotional. This exhibition was conceived at a time when travel was curtailed during the pandemic. Through the voices of four docents, the exhibition attempts to convey the multiple aspects of “travelling,”and how Wu’s art has inspired them to recollect and reconnect with times of carefree exploration by sharing personal stories and photographs.

We hope visitors will also be inspired by the spirit of this master and learn to appreciate his works and our world from their own points of view.

Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2022

Young cousin and I went to Chinatown Point to see the Mid-Autumn Festival light-up yesterday. Finally saw the beautiful lanterns around the bustling Chinatown with many tourists and locals.

Today is 15th of the 8th lunar month in Chinese calendar. Later I will just eat mooncake and pomelo at home.  Happy Mid-Autumn Festival to all my friends, relatives and readers!

This year Mid-Autumn Festival lantern designs is cute with mooncake theme and small rabbit.

Rethinking Sculpture in Singapore National Gallery #Art

After submitting my assignment this Monday, I went to the National Gallery to explore various art exhibitions as I was looking forward to seeing the art exhibition by the great artist Wu Guan Zhong.

By the way, Singaporeans enjoy free entry to various art exhibitions, including Wu Guan Zhong at the National Gallery. Just bring your NRIC card with you.

On the way to get the free ticket, I saw a few art sculptures as part of the, "Nothing is Forever, Rethinking Sculpture in Singapore" at the basement. I like the big metallic bluish green sculpture, Entrepreneur by Vincent Hoisington. He actually used polyurethane paint on aluminium material. The metal sheet was shaped precisely to create contours and patterns in high relief.
